Why do fingernails seem to grow faster than toenails?

Toenails' growth get stunted by our constant wearing of shoes, socks, stockings, etc. It's even covered up with blankets and sheets when we sleep. It is therefore less exposed to sunlight and air which favor growth. Toenails are often moist with perspiration and when walking barefoot it's among the first parts of our body that gets exposed to dirt and germs. It can also be quite difficult to reach when bathing or cleaning our body parts. Because of its distance from our eyes and nose it is often left neglected. Why do fingernails seem to grow faster than toenails?
Actually, both grow at the SAME rate. Fingernails SEEM to grow faster since they are smaller, thinner and less dense. Toenails are wider, thicker, larger and more dense. Cell for cell, toenails have more mass to fill, so to speak. Also, as fingernails are so readily visible, daily we are more acutely aware of their growth. Why do fingernails seem to grow faster than toenails?
It has something to do with us being big hairy apes I think.
it's the same with nails, and hair, you cut more you grow more, you cut your finger nails more than your foot nails,
it is true, toenails tend to get less light therefore growing slower.
The fact we wear shoes usually stunts their rate of growth vs the fingers.
