Why are fingernails worse than feathers?

I just found out that fingernails tickle soles WAY more then feathers believe it or not! A load of us just tried it on this boy and he went TOTALY hysterical and frantic for ages and AGES non stop! haha

cute I know

but why is this so ticklish do u think? ever seen fingernails used to tickle soles? Why are fingernails worse than feathers?
The greater the degree of human connection, the more people expect it to tickle, and expecting something to tickle more is largely self-fulfilling. It's very similar to that experiment in which people were told they were going to be tickled either by a robot or by a human, but when they thought they were being tickled by a human they found it tickled more. There is also likely the extra satisfaction for the tickler of actually being touching the soles in question directly instead of through a feather. While it's a matter of personal preference, it seems from experience that it can be easier to tell what to adjust when tickling with fingernails.

There's also the possibility that I've seen in the case of a number of people, that they find feathers not quite so effective for tickling there feet, but highly efficacious at tickling in other areas. Why are fingernails worse than feathers?
Because they're more rigid but still thin, I guess. I've yet to have the pleasure of being tickled by long fingernails, only feathers, so I can't be sure.
Because it's more personal. You are using your hands on his skin, instead of using an object (feather)
Believe me.

It wasn't the nails that made him hysterical.
if someone trys tickling my feet their getting kicked in the face
